Help
Quick answers first; a human at support@trypresto.app if you're stuck.
Setup and permissions
Which permissions does Presto need, and why?
Three: Microphone (to hear you), Accessibility (so hotkeys work everywhere and text lands at your cursor), and Automation ("System Events", the most reliable way to paste). The Welcome Tour in the menu walks all three with live checkmarks.
Presto isn't listed in System Settings → Automation.
Apps only appear there after their first paste attempt. Dictate one sentence, then click Allow on the dialog that appears. If you dismissed it, choose "Enable Reliable Paste" from Presto's menu to bring the prompt back.
I clicked Deny on a permission. How do I undo that?
System Settings → Privacy & Security → the permission in question → find Presto and turn its toggle on. The menu's Welcome Tour deep-links each pane.
Dictating
My dictation didn't appear in the app I was using.
Your words are never lost: the transcript stays on your clipboard, so press ⌘V. If pasting misses often in one particular app, make sure Automation ("Enable Reliable Paste" in the menu) is granted; that switches to the path that works in stubborn apps like VS Code.
The last word of my sentence gets cut off.
Settings → General → "Keep listening after stop." Standard (0.4s) suits most people; choose Long if you release keys early.
Ums and stutters are showing up in my text.
Turn on "Clean Up Speech with AI" in the menu. Off, Presto types exactly what it heard; on, fillers vanish and punctuation lands, entirely on your Mac.
Can I change the shortcuts?
All of them: Settings → General. Click a recorder, press your keys. Restore Default Shortcuts brings back ⌃` (toggle), ⌃1 (push to talk), and Esc (cancel).
Trial and license
Where do I enter my license key?
Menu bar → the License item → paste the whole key starting with PRESTO. → Activate. Your key is in the post-purchase page and your emailed receipt, and it covers 2 Macs.
What happens when the trial ends?
Dictation pauses until a license is entered. Nothing is deleted; your history and settings stay put.
I lost my license key.
Email support@trypresto.app from your purchase email and we'll resend it.
Privacy and data
Where is my history stored, and how do I delete it?
On your Mac: Settings → Recordings → Open Recordings Folder. Delete anything there freely; audio also auto-expires on the schedule you pick. Nothing is ever uploaded.
How do I uninstall completely?
Quit Presto, move Presto.app to the Trash, and delete the Presto folder in ~/Library/Application Support if you want history gone too. That's everything; there's no account to close.
Refunds are covered by the refund policy: 14 days, one email, no questions.
